IYC faults Buhari’s call on UN to negotiate Chibok girls freedom with Boko Haram

IJAW Youth Council, IYC, Friday, criticised President Muhammadu Buhari over his call on the United Nations to broker the release of the Chibok girls with Boko Haram terrorists.
Spokesperson of the council, Mr Eric Omare, in a statement, said: “Our attention has just been drawn to the call by President Buhari on the United Nations to mediate with Boko Haram terrorists in order to free the Chibok girls.”
“The IYC states that the Niger Delta situation calls for more urgent international intervention, rather than the senseless Boko Haram agitation.
“The IYC had expected President Buhari to make such a call on the United Nations in relation to finding a lasting solution to the recurrent Niger Delta agitation, especially now that stakeholders in the region no longer have confidence in the sincerity of government to resolve the issues,” he said.
His words: “The IYC, therefore, calls on President Buhari to use his stay in the United Nations conference to seek for international support towards the resolution of the Niger Delta agitation.” Peaceful and lasting solution to the Niger Delta situation demands the intervention of the international community,” the group added.
