Edo governorship election update

At Ward 6, Unit 1, Irrua, in Esan Central, the card reader is not functioning. Consequently, INEC officials resorted to manual accreditation of voters. Voters at Ward 4 Unit 8 in Uromi area of Edo State greeted the election day with massive turnout. Most polling stations some political party officials were seen bribing voters.The card reader failed to function at Ipkeshi, near Auchi, during the governorship election in Edo.
The device did not function in Ward 11 and 12 at Okhueromoh Primary School, Ipkeshi, when the INEC official attempted to accredit voters for the poll.
Two of the voters, Mr Agbada Jerry and Charles Monday, decried the development and said that it would delay the voting process.
The INEC Polling Officer, Mr Mubarak Jubril, said that the card readers could read and confirm the PVCs, but couldn’t read most fingers.
He said, “We have complained to INEC and we are directed to use the manual accreditation, and that is what we are using now.”
Similarly, the card reader failed at Ward 4, Unit 17, in Oredo Local Government Area, but the machine was replaced by INEC officials.
INEC Deputy Director of Publicity, Nick Dazang, said the decision to use Incident Form was right.
He said, “When the card reader reads the PVCs and unable to read the biometrics of the voters, they are directed to used the Incident Form and the voters register.”
