PVC's distribution hits 75%

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has so far 52.2 million Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) representing 75.88 percent of the total number of registered voters. The latest figures are contained in a statement on Tuesday by the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Mr. Kayode Idowu. According to the latest figures, most of the states have recorded over 60 percent collection rate, with the exception of Ogun state. Out of the state’s 1,829,534 registered voters, only 747,556 voters have so far collected their PVCs, representing a 40.86 percent. Zamfara state on the other hand has the highest number of PVCs collected so far. Out of its 1,495,717 registered voters, 1,458,519 PVCs has so far been collected, representing 97.51 percent. Other states with a high percentage of PVCs collection include Gombe 95.05%; Jigawa 93.20%; Kaduna 91.98%; Katsina 92.68%; Akwa Ibom 87.38%; Adamawa 85.19%; Kebbi 89.53% and Taraba 89.25%. In Lagos state, out of the 5,905,852 registered voters, only 3,685,322 voters have so far collected their PVCs, representing 62.40%, while in Kano state, 3,487,155 voters out of 4,975,701 have collected their PVCs representing 70.08% voters.
